Preparing for Shearing Day

All sheep must be fasted for 12 hours prior to shearing. This means no food or water, including pasture, until they have been sheared. If the sheep have a full stomach it can put too much pressure on their lungs which may cause them to suffocate.

Sheep must be dry before shearing. If rain or drizzle is in the forecast they need to be under shelter, as it can be days before they are completely dry.

Sheep must be penned prior to arrival, or a round up fee will be applied.

A $50 fee will be charged if I arrive and the sheep have not been kept off feed for the last 12 hours and/or are not dry.

On Shearing Day

I will need a flat surface at least 4 ft by 4 ft, and as close as possible to the pen where the sheep will be kept. I also require a standard 110v outlet within 50 ft of the shearing area.  Please provide someone who can help catch the sheep and clear away the wool. This will make the day go quicker, be less stressful for the sheep and reduce your overall cost.
